CATCHING CAIRO - Part of ASBO Issue 11

July, 2022

Describing her approach as DreameR&B, Catching Cairo utilises her vulnerability and high-quality vocals to deliver intimate and touching music. I had the pleasure of interviewing her about her work and her time growing up - amongst other things.

Behind the Work

ABOUT ME

I am originally from Spain and came to the UK in 2010. Growing up, I always found an interest in language which pushed me to pursue my dream of becoming a writer and storyteller. I have been studying journalism for five years, first completing a BTEC level 3 extended diploma in creative print-based media production and achieving distinction, and then moving on to the University of Westminster and completing my undergraduate degree in journalism.

I am most passionate about music journalism and covering the work of both well-known, successful musicians and talented underground artists who have not yet reached the peak of their music careers and who deserve recognition. I am also highly invested in social issues and one of my main aims in life is to raise awareness on important matters and bring fairness to the world through my work. Animal cruelty, homelessness and environmental disasters are only some of the issues that I have campaigned against and discussed in my work.

I aim to learn from others, expand my knowledge in diverse subjects and further my skills in the fields of media, writing and marketing so that I can potentially build a platform and use my digital skills to challenge, inspire and motivate people to be themselves and to create change.

Knowledge is not power. Knowledge is only potential power. Action is power. - Tony Robbins
